San Pedro, California

This post will be enjoyed by my siblings! Ron and I were just in southern California for a Hancock family reunion. We had a few extra hours on Saturday and decided to drive up to San Pedro, California and visit my old stomping grounds. I lived there for 3 years during the ages of 9-11 which was 4th-6th grade for me. The family that currently lives in our "dream house" on 37th street has been there for 20 years and has remodeled the home extensively and landscapped on all four sides. He (Leno) was home and gave us a tour. At the end of this post are pictures of 2145 Grenadier Lane, South Shores Elementary and the LDS chapel where we attended church.



Ta-da! Remember this house guys! They've made the driveway with paving stones so it wouldn't crack. They've planted many trees and bushes!




Pretty tile work up the front stairs and to the left of the house. Plants under the stairway as well. Notice the pretty green iron-rod railing they put in.

On top of the garage - all tiled. We used to play ball here!

Also the front room - remember the fireplace?

The kitchen. I don't think we had a bar sticking out? Did we have cabinets that you could see through like this? Our cabinets were dark, right? I don't remember what the countertops were like but they weren't this green tile. Did we have that big fan above the stove?

Don't recall those light fixtures either.

This view is from the back hall standing at the top of the basement stairs. This used to be a tiny family room for us but they put their kitchen table here.

Remember the laundry shoot? Still there. We didn't have this green vinyl flooring but this cabinetry looks familar.

Also the back hall. That door used to go the sewing room but it is no longer a sewing room. Imagine that.

Standing where our kitchen table used to be. They broke open the wall that used to go into the "backroom". It's now a huge family room.

Walking into the back area of the house between those 2 pillars you just saw and turning right - it's now a dining room (used to be the sewing room with lots of cabinets)

Now looking to the left at their huge family room that used to be our "backroom" . He said they added some windows.

Top of the front stairs looking down to the front door, all hardwood with a tile entry. Did we have banisters on both sides or were they walls?

At the top of the stairs they tore down the wall that goes into the study so you go into the big opening and this is the view on the right. They added a fireplace (with chimney). Beyond the chair on the right is a bookshelf he built. Our upright piano used to be there. Notice that the ceiling beams are a lighter stain now.

My bedroom. I used to climb out that window on the left onto the roofing and run off of it onto the back hill - over and over and over. That roofing is no longer there.

The girls bathroom remains unchanged.

However the middle bathroom was remodeled but I didn't get a pic of it.

If you're in the backyard and walking around the right side of the house, this is the view.

Back of the house. He put in new (very sturdy) stairs to the study, planted bushes, and added windows for their family room.

Back of the house. Didn't we have a patio here?

For this picture I'm standing on the landing after just walking out the laundry room door on the side of the house. He's built a huge patio area with roofing.

I'm standing in the same spot (landing coming of laundry room) looking to the right towards the front of the house.

He said it only gets hot about 2 times a year. Stays nice and cool! Still no air conditioner at this house!
