The 5 cakes looked like this when she arrived. The largest one was 14 inches across, each one having 4 layers. The cake was French vanilla and the frosting was her yummy recipe!

She decided that fondant would be a smoother look so she covered her yummy frosting.

Sister Wallace came by to help and stayed late into the night - imagine that. Sister Wallace is warming the fondant - she is going to have sore muscles!
Br. Wallace (who came by after hunting) helped roll the fondant. He was very happy to be coached by Wendy...and she was very happy for the help. He has done hundreds (maybe thousands) of perfect round tortillas so this was a no brainer for him.

Wendy designed this and "eyed" it as she pipped on each swirl of chocolate!

She started by pipping on the large swirls.

Then she added all the small swirls

Then they were stacked! The flowers and leaves (and everthing but the wire that holds them into the cake) you see on the cake are made from gum paste - totally edible but we didn't eat them - they are too beautiful. Some of these red flowers were ones that were used on Alicia's cake several years ago - they used to be pink and Wendy painted them red. It was stunning! Each one of these flowers takes about an hour to make!
Cutting the cake - they were soooo nice to each other!

What a process! How lucky you were to witness it step by step. The finished product turned out absolutely lovely. I am sure Katie was thrilled!
Thanks for the pictures, wish we were there. Wendy did an amazing job on the cake. She has such a talent.
